30 Day Writing Meme - Day 2
2 – Name the fandoms you've written in, and how much you've written in that fandom, and if you still write in it.
Urk. I couldn't tell you numbers on anything, since about a third of what I write hasn't left (and might never leave) my harddrive. However, I will gleefully babble about why fandoms are seperated into the categories they are below. And for those questions that refer back to this, I'll keep the fandoms seperated as they are here.
Current fandoms in individual projects:
Highlander
Historical RPF (15th century)
Harry Potter
Iron Man (movie-verse)
Shakespeare
Highlander I keep coming back to, both in individual projects and in co-authored projects. It's one of the fandoms that has held my interest since I first saw it, and there's always something new for it. I've even recently acquired a Duncan MacLeod muse, which is something I never thought would happen.
Harry Potter is one I got sucked into after the first movie, and while I did slow down very abruptly after the sixth book, I haven't really wandered away as much as I thought I would. There are characters there that demand exploring, and after I'd had a chance to let my dissapointment in canon fade, I have gone back and played more with the shiny toys. Including working on rewriting one of the major projects I had started in that fandom and not finished.
Iron Man is current because I have a series of mostly kink-stories that I'm working on in that fandom, because I know it's not over yet. I even have an idea why it's not done yet, but I haven't been able to work it through to that conclusion yet. It should be entertaining to get there.
Shakespeare is in there because my one character, Haerviu, is a Highlander-fandom OC based off Montjoy in Shakespeare's Henry V. And because I make use of Henry V (the play) when working with the Historical RPF stories as well.
And Historical RPF, particular of 15th century England and France, is my current focus. I have several projects going with that - some co-written crossovers spanning more time, a couple that are individual projects. That would require it's own post, and has been the subject of several writing updates already, but suffice to say it's what I'm currently writing, and is rapidly becoming as massive a body of works as some of the others, current and past.
Other fandoms primarily for individual projects:
X-Men
Stargate SG1
Star Trek: The Next Generation
CSI Miami
Doctor Who
Torchwood
Farscape
House
Underworld
Pirates of the Caribbean
Lord of the Rings
Babylon 5
The Mummy
Some projects have been posted, some have not. Some have been posted, and then pulled. All have a project somewhere, either in electronic format or hard-copy.
Doctor Who, Torchwood, Farscape, Stargate SG1, and X-Men are all more major fandoms for me. They either have a large volume of works by comparison to the others, or they're ones I'm more likely to come back to again and again.
The Mummy, Babylon 5, Lord of the Rings, Underworld, CSI Miami, and Star Trek: The Next Generation all only have one or two stories, and I'm not likely to work on more than that. Some of those projects have been finished, others are languishing half-finished on CDs or in hard-copy.
X-Men, Stargate SG1, CSI Miami, Doctor Who, Torchwood, Underworld, and Pirates of the Caribbean have all also featured in co-authored stories, some posted, some still on my hard-drive.
Fandoms that are primarily in co-authored projects:
Burn Notice
The Magnificent Seven (TV)
Criminal Minds
Stargate Atlantis
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Angel
Mythology
Sorcerer's Apprentice (2010)
Arthurian Legend
NCIS
All of those have only featured in more than a handful of co-authored projects, not all of which I actually write the characters for. Most in crossovers, and some of which have even been posted.
Others:
Supernatural
Boondock Saints
Good Omens
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
NCIS Los Angeles
X-Files
Historical RPF (13th century)
Those all have been in co-authored stories, and generally only a few. Some of which have been abandoned, and none of which have been posted.
