"Torchwood's just a show..."
"Jenni didn't survive the tumble to the ground when we fell through the Rift. It drove the arrow through her leg, and it nicked the femoral artery. Between that and the cold, she never had a chance." Morgyn fingered the box sitting on the table next to her. "I never caught the names of the other two. Didn't think to look at their con badges and never asked them."
"You're sure no one else made it through the Rift, and ended up somewhere, or somewhen, else?"
Morgyn looked up at the quiet question, and shrugged one shoulder, giving Becky a wry smile. "I don't know. And it doesn't actually matter if they did or not, not now. The Doctor sealed the tear after I left." She paused. "Or I'm sure there will be a queue to smack him, at the least."
"What happened after you went through the Rift?" Branwen stood in the doorway that led to the connected room, Michael on her hip.
The little boy squirmed down, darting over to Morgyn, who scooped him onto her lap, wrapping her arms around him to keep him still.
"Jenni died, the rest of us huddled together trying to keep from freezing. We didn't want to leave her body alone, and we didn't have a clue which way to head to find civilzation. There was a road only about fifty feet away, but that didn't tell us where we were. Not until Torchwood showed up, anyway."

"Come on, stay with us." Morgyn pinched the arm of the man who sat between her and the other woman who'd stumbled across the rough ground when the landscape had abruptly changed. He'd been bleeding from a nasty gash across his head, and Morgyn hoped that it wasn't more than a cut.
"Sleepy." The man tried to lean his head against her shoulder, and Morgyn shrugged, forcing him to lift it again. "Please, just a moment. I'm so tired."
"No. No sleeping. You've got to stay awake." Morgyn looked up at the sound of a vehicle on the road, blinking, then squinting as it turned off the road, headlights flashing bright against the darkening sky, blinding her a moment. "Come on, stay with me, it looks like help is here." She hoped it was help, not someone who decided the three of them looked like easy pickings.
Doors slammed, and Morgyn heard the indrawn breath from the other woman, and the quiet, "We're either dead or fucked."
"Why?" Morgyn stayed focused on the man between them, trying to keep him awake.
"Torchwood." The woman's single word made Morgyn look up again, in time to catch sight of Owen Harper opening his mouth to say something.
"Oh." Morgyn scrambled out of the way as he crouched down, leaving the man to someone with a better clue, at least, than she had. "Ah. Fun." She jumped slightly when she felt a light touch on her sleeve, looking over at Gwen. "Sorry, jumpy a bit." Her voice was steadier than she thought it should be, and she knew, in some mostly-ignored part of her mind, that she'd pay for the calm she had now later. "What do you want?"
"I'm Gwen." Gwen smiled gently, trying to be reassuring, and only putting Morgyn's nerves on edge. She didn't want to be reassured.
"Morgyn. And Jenni's dead, and I really don't know who they are, I haven't even looked at their con badges. And I don't know how we ended up here, but this isn't where we belong. Not just the wrong time, the wrong universe. Torchwood's just a show, not real, not for us. Except you are, I mean, you're standing right here." Morgyn bit her lip, trying to stop the babbling.
"It's all right." Gwen tried to tug her back towards the SUV, and Morgyn shook her head, digging in her heels slightly. "You should come sit down, let Owen check you over, make sure you're all right."
"I'm fine. Really. They're injured, take care of them first. I'll be fine." Morgyn pulled away, glaring at Gwen when the other woman tried to reach out to her again. "Don't touch me. Don't worry about me, I don't want your concern, I don't want your sympathy, I just want you to help them. I'll be fine."
Gwen shot a look over at Jack, before going to help Tosh with the woman while Morgyn paced, crossing her arms tightly over her chest.
"Can you tell me where you were before?" Jack stayed out of Morgyn's path, watching her with his hands in his pockets. "What year, what planet?"
"I don't honestly know. I mean, after we were... I don't know what happened. We were at a convention, a sci-fi convention, in Baltimore, and then there was a bright flash of light, or something, and we were somewhere else. A medieval battlefield, I think. No guns, just swords and screams and arrows, and I didn't understand the language. There were a lot more of us then.
"Jenni was right behind me, and she got shot. I managed to get her out, those two stuck together and managed to follow us. Into the woods, and then suddenly the landscape changed again, and we were here. We fell a little distance, and Jenni fell on the arrow. She bled out, I couldn't do anything. I think it hit the femoral artery."
Morgyn looked over at the two sitting on the ground, watching the woman sway, her face paler than it had been when she'd first looked, when they'd gotten here. "How long is it going to take to get them to a hospital or trauma center? They need to get more medical attention than they can just with a first-aid kit. Even a really well-stocked first-aid kit."
"We'll do the best we can. You're in the Brecon Beacons, about half a kilometer from the nearest village, by the way."
"We couldn't have made it that far." Morgyn began to pace again. "I mean, I think I could have, except that I'm splashed with mud, and it's cold, and with them out of sight, I'd worry that I'd lead people back to corpses, and factor in that I don't know the area... Probably better we stayed put. How did you find us? Not that I'm not glad you did, but I didn't think anyone would. Not really."
"Leave that for another conversation, after we get you back to the Hub."
"Right. Cardiff, Torchwood, Hub." Morgyn reached up to lace her fingers behind her neck a moment. "I wonder if I'm going to wake up in a nice little white room, mumbling about a lovely, lovely dream, or just... Are they going to be all right?" She looked over at the others again, dropping her hands to her side again.
She didn't notice Ianto step up behind her until she felt the prick of a needle, lashing out a second too late, shaking her head dizzily as she sank towards the ground.
