morgynleri... I keep neglecting to remember this every day. Have the next five all at once. (And I shall crosspost this to LJ once I can... Right now, can't even cut-and-paste it.)
11 – Genre – do you prefer certain genres of fic when you're writing? What kind do you tend to write most?
Alternate universe and alternate history. Crossovers. Character studies. Science fiction and fantasy.
12 – Have you ever attempted an "adaptation" fic of a favorite book or movie but set in a different fandom?
No, and haven't been particularly inclined to. I have attempted dropping characters from one fandom into another in order to muck with things, but that's as close as I've come.
13 – Do you prefer canon or fanon when you write? Has writing fanfic for a fandom changed the way you see some or even all of the original source material?
Neither. Canon is necessary, or the fandom wouldn't exist, and it gives me all sorts of shiny toys that I'll interpret as I will to create my own personal fanon, and I'll do the same with elements of fanon I pick up elsewhere. It's all shiny toys to play with, as far as I'm concerned.
14 – Ratings – how high are you comfortable with going? Have you ever written higher? If you're comfortable with NC-17, have you ever been shocked by finding that the story you're writing is G-rated instead?
As I tend to run with a three-category system on my LJ anymore, and there's a four-category system on AO3 where I archive... most of my stories are rated teen on both, because I'm happiest writing in that range most of the time, and most stories don't call for the level of violent and/or sexual detail that would earn them an adult/mature/explicit rating. I've never been shocked about the rating of a story, regardless of what it is, because I generally have an idea of how far I'm willing to go with that story before I start.
15 – Warnings – What do you feel it most important to warn for, and what's the strangest thing you've warned for in a fic?
Graphic violence, graphic sex, death, rape, abuse. Anything else is in the pairings or the notes, generally. Strangest thing I've warned for in fic? Um. Can't recall.
