Summary: Not all alien technology is worth knowing how it works.
Why it’s a costume: It's my first stab at a Torchwood fic, it's short without being a drabble or a chapter of a longer fic, and it's the first story I've tried not entirely in chronological order (but not with distinct, noted flashbacks).
