Food and Service
Jun. 10th, 2012 06:42 pmMom and I are stopped in Pocatello, Idaho, for a couple days before heading up to Shelly for Uprising. We went to IHOP for dinner today.
The first person who said he would be our server bailed on us and traded with another server after bringing mom's Pepsi, and what I thought was hot chocolate - but not the water I'd also asked for. When the other person came to take our orders, I had taken a sip of the brown stuff that they passed off as hot chocolate, and tasted like it was nothing more than hot water with syrup in it. I made a complaint, and it was removed, and I asked that water be brought, and we ordered our food.
Most of our food came - my soup did not, but the rest did - and my water was still not brought, and I repeated the request. My soup was brought, my mom asked for syrup, and I had to ask for the water for the fourth time. It finally came when mom's syrup was brought.
Our server then vanished, and paid no further attention to us. Another server, who was taking care of other tables, was paying more attention than either of the ones who had been theoretically taking care of our table, brought us a box for mom's leftovers, and our bill.
When we went to pay, I asked to speak with the manager, and laid our my complaints. She comped mom's meal entirely, and the hot chocolate, and provided four coupons for another visit (without expiration dates). We also made sure to point out the server who did more than just her job.
So, might go there again next year, but I'm not entirely convinced of it. The food was good enough, and we were promised that the manager would make sure next time we had a different server, which are pluses more than the comping of most of the meal and the coupons.
