morgynleri: Learn from everyone, follow no one, watch for patters, and work like hell (learn watch work)
Decided to dredge up this old meme, and we'll see how far it goes. Replaced what needs to be said in a comment, just for the sheer strangeness of it. ETA: like [personal profile] rhi, I am doing a replacement, 'cause I can.

1. Comment to this entry saying 'Icon of Doom' and I will pick 3 of your icons/userpics.
2. Make an entry in your own journal (or just reply if you prefer) and talk about the icons I picked.

[personal profile] rhi picked these:

A lot of mine are text icons which I went hunting for suitable backgrounds for. Or just backgrounds that entertained me. This is one of those that made me grin. Because trying to be an archery target would be something... entertaining to explain to paramedics, and not in a good way. Also, it's about the only way I can do something that isn't whimpering or yelling, because it's Lord of the Rings That Fucking Scene*.

Text icon, animated because otherwise the font would be tiny. I. I get cranky about people doing stupid shit on a wider-than-personal scale, and this is my icon for that. I fortunately do not get to use it very often, and more often in comments than on posts. It is also been terrifyingly applicable for the last several years.

Ooh, this one. This is AU specific, particularly for Ofinn Börn. Where Bucky is the construct Fenrir made of himself when he found someone worth following. Fenrir bound in ice and steel and made into a monster (which. There's more to it, but spoilers). Made into a weapon that he was never meant to be - he was always Loki's shield, as Jörmungandr was the spy (spy-master, more). Hel was the weapon. The sword forged to strike back at Loki's enemies, and well did she so that.

*That Fucking Scene, aka the one where my favorite character(s) die. Sometimes it is a good death, sometimes it is a necessary death, but there is always, ALWAYS swearing at the movie or show until the scene is done. (see also: the fight in the melting pit in The Phantom Menace, the end of Into The Lion's Den on Farscape, that episode near the end of season 4 of Babylon 5 where Marcus is a romantic fool, the tail end of Battle of Five Armies, etc.)

Got photos taken this morning, and taking a day's break from the movie tonight. Will be starting Lord of the Rings, extended version, tomorrow. Six days to watch three movies, because taking a break in the middle of each because that's how the discs are set up and ADHD brain has been annoying.

Sparrows have set up nest under the eaves of the neighbor's shed, and are providing quality cat TV for Marisol, at least.

I have gotten my "finished all the things" star for my daily side of my to-do chart every day this week (started on Saturday Because) so far, and if I can do that today and tomorrow, I get an extra star. And my more-than-weekly side has also gotten a star for each day for doing more than one thing on that side each day. And words every day. And the only thing that doesn't have a second day I did something on it is the litterbox sifting, and if I can get that today or tomorrow, that means everything has been done at least twice this week and will be able to get its column sticker.

What, beyond MORE STICKERS, I am going to do if I get all the stickers, I dunno yet. Maybe order food for delivery, because not having to cook for a day will be awesome.

Got words yesterday, and will be posting the daily snippet as soon as I decide if I want to post the Witcher stuff or part of a scene from the current chapter-in-progress of Burning Bright, which, yay, it's going again. At least a little.

Decided to post a bit from the Burning Bright chapter-in-progress because it's lighter and I need things to make me smile.

Ducking behind a pillar, Ráva grins as the green stone Legolas had flung at him skitters down a pile of gold coins. "You missed!" he calls out in a sing‒song, keeping to the Sindarin his mother had taught him as much as she had their own tongue.

"You haven't done any better!" Legolas is speaking the Silvan dialect that borrows from Sindarin more than the lost peoples of the plains from before humans had roved them.

"I'm not the one who claims to be a peerless archer." Ráva crouches to scoop up a handful of coins. They'll do better, uniform in size and shape as they are. He peers out a moment, before ducking back, avoiding a glittering blue stone.

He laughs, before diving out, flinging two of the coins before he hits the still‒massive pile, and rolling. Getting behind a different, lower column before Legolas does more than yelp. Not from being hit, as far as Ráva can tell, but possibly from the proximity of such.

"HOLD!"

The bellow makes Ráva freeze in place, his grin fading a bit. Getting caught was part of this kind of game, always had been, the trick is who is doing the catching. He hadn't planned on it being Dori.
