Sunday Six (ish)

Fuck it. I have words on two separate stories so far today, I can snippet one for today's Sunday Six, and the other for tomorrow's daily-ish fic snippet.
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, post canon. Because Nadya Gennel has Plans.
"There's talk of reducing aid to Cardassia, though nothing has been decided yet." Officially. If Ross is telling her this, it's more likely than not.
"How soon?" She will have to tell Garak, at least. And send word to Keldar, so she can prepare those who have stayed in Lakarian, and those who have returned from elsewhere in the Union.
"Another month or two, at most." Ross shrugs slightly. "The Federation needs to focus on member worlds."
Which means they also won't be sending any aid to any other of the worlds devastated by this war. Some of those have already been snapped up by the Klingons, some by the Romulans, but there are plenty enough, Nadya knows, who aren't affiliated with any of the great powers of the Quadrant.
Plenty enough to build a different kind of empire upon. The Federation does have at least one good idea. Don't rely on one species or world to carry the weight of the empire.
