morgynleriSo, everytime I watch the episode where the B-plot is Keiko wanting to start a school, my response now when she's talking to Sisko is to chime in after she asks for space and computers is "And some teaching credentials?"
And now I kinda want to figure out what's going on with the school and Keiko in my one AU that I’ve been working on lately. She could use something else to do to feel useful, and the school is a good idea for the station to have.
Fuck, she could even still be the one pushing for a school, and doing the administrative work to have one, without her deciding that she's going to be a teacher without any kind of qualification or experience. I can imagine, even with a relatively small number of children on the station, that doing the administrative work would be a full time job.
Especially if she has to arrange for actually qualified teachers, whether she does that with the teachers being there in person or via subspace.
And if she's doing administration for the school, she could arrange to have teachers who are qualified for different cultures. Guest lecturers from outside Bajoran or Starfleet to introduce the students to multiple cultures and their world views and approaches to education.
Just. They could have done much better with that.
