morgynleriReasons why I should not do the "let MapCrunch drop you in a random place without any information on where you are" when I am a little tired and a lot achey, and write things down to help me keep track of where the fuck I've gone in looking for things that tell me where I am:
Cold desert, paved road, mountains all 'round. Heading north-west toward the buildings. road curves more due west once entering the set of buildings. There is a gas station. The sign is in cyrillic. Macedonian says google translate. Before exiting the village, the car ceases to follow the paved two-lane road, and turns onto an unmarked road instead. I'll pass on that for now.
Turning around and heading east, and south-east. Past where I began there is a farm building. And then horses. And a sign I can't make sense of. Another building. Very rural now. A blue sign, says 82. Past a tourist camp that google doesn't have on the map. Up a hill. A blue sign, says 83. Distance markers, then.
Road is now curving northward. Then back east. Almost due east now. Hey, look, another building! Road is curving back to north-east. Road is now east-of-north.
Nevermind. North-east it is. Back to east. And more road and road and endless road.
Horses! Another sign, next to a bridge! Which yields nothing. Also, the land looks more flat now.
Cows! Also, some of the words have been Mongolian or Russian, so still fuck all if I know where I am.
Another sign. This one with vertical script. Mongolia now seems far more likely.
HAH! I FOUND IT!

Dropped me in FUCKING MONGOLIA, just east of Erdene, Tov, Mongolia. Bloody fucking bastards, it took a LOT OF TRAVELING to find out where the fuck I was.
(The sign I could not make sense of was too blurred to be certain of all the letters. Which happens sometimes, and is very annoying.)
The next place it dropped me was right next to a sign that gave me three points to triangulate, and a few clicks down the road was a sign with numbers that made the exact placement.
