"Thanks for having me over, Jonah." Lisa pulled on her coat, giving her brother a strained smile. "But, really, I have to go. This project... it really can't wait."

"Lisa, it's almost midnight." Jonah stepped between her and the door, his hand resting on the knob as he gave her a concerned look. "Why won't you tell me about this project? I could help you."

"No." Lisa held his gaze for a long moment, before reaching out to touch his cheek lightly. "I don't want you to get in trouble, little brother. I promise, I'm not doing anything illegal, but if you got involved, you could put your job in jephordy. I don't want that, Jonah."

"Be careful, Lisa. I don't like this. It's not like you to work on a project this dangerous alone."

"You'd be surprised, little brother." Lisa stepped past him out the door when he opened it for her. "Just... do me a favor, Jonah. If I don't call you tomorrow, take the package you get in the mail to work with you. To someone who can do something with it."

"Lisa?"

"Just... an insurance policy, you could call it." She smiled again, hurrying towards the stairs, and the door to the street.

Jonah swore under his breath, and hurried back inside, grabbing his shield and gun before following his sister. By the time he reached the street, she'd already vanished, the squeal of tires from around the corner telling him that she had no intention of letting him follow her.

"Damn it, Lisa. What have you gotten yourself into?"

"Just a moment!" Melinda wrapped her robe around herself, rubbing sleep from her eyes as she opened the door of her room. "What is it, Jamel?"

"Security caught a woman breaking into office downtown. They called, want to know what to do with her."

"Take her to the local police, I would think. Are they incapable of thinking on their own?"

"She had a password to the computers. They found her in the process of downloading files on the Persephone Project." Jamel handed her his Blackberry. "I.T. has recorded more than one unauthorized download in the last two weeks, using the same password. Probably the same woman each time."

Melinda frowned, scanning the report rapidly. "I see. Have them bring her back to base. I want to know everything about her. And find our where she lives, and clean the place out. I want to know what information she has, and with whom, if anyone, she has shared that information. Persephone Project must not be endangered, Jamel. No matter what the cost."

"They found car keys on her, but no ID. They already started searching for her car. They should have the information we need by the time I call them."

"Good. I want this dealt with, Jamel." Melinda handed the Blackberry back, her expression solemn. "The project cannot be placed in any danger. From anyone."

"I understand, Melinda. I will make sure this matter is dealt with."

"Thank you. Now, if that is all, I do need my rest. I have a conference in town tomorrow."

"Sleep well, Melinda." Jamel bowed his head slightly before turning, already dialing the office once more as he walked down the hall.

"I hope so." Melinda sighed, closing the door, and leaning her head against it for a moment. "Whoever you are, madame, you should have left well enough alone."

"Go rot in hell." Lisa lifted her chin defiently, despite the gun aimed at her head, and the bruises making themselves known where they'd beaten her. "Your precious Project Persephone won't stay a secret forever. Someday, someone else will stumble on it, and you can't kill everyone who finds out about it."

"Can't we?" The gunman sounded amused behind his mask. "I fear you've underestimated your foe, Miss March." He thumbed off the safety, and Lisa drew in a deep breath, meeting his gaze with a suddent rush of calm.

Jamel watched the body fall backwards, a calm expression on her face in death, then turned to the two men leaning against the car nearby. "Burn the body. And have a chop shop pick up the car. Wipe it clean before they arrive."

"Yes, sir." The security guards pushed away from the car, passing him as he walked to the road, and his own waiting car.
