Particularly on Henry V, alternate histories, and why I shouldn't plot out timelines for what is not meant to be written down.

I've another Henry V crossover started w/[livejournal.com profile] auberus since the last post (with Highlander and NCIS and probably Harry Potter eventually, and yes, it's a bit of a messy plot as yet), plus made the mistake of letting myself plot out a timeline for what should have stayed a nice little fantasy in my head and never on paper on laptop. *facepalms*

On the other hand, that second will do a number on history, and probably keep the Yorkist line of kings off the throne... and possibly the Tudors as well, depending on which of two potential plot lines I go for. All of which depends on the female lead's choices, and how much Henry intends to let her get away with them. I'm possibly leaning toward the second one, in which Henry is not so much inclined to be nice about the female lead's choices. In neither of them does he survive his historical death, but both involve an eighteen-year-old son (legitimate or not depends on plot line used) who can make things a lot more difficult for everyone.

Not that I've plotted beyond Henry's death much, though. I'll wait on that one until after I've maybe written anything up to that.

Also, have worked on research and plotting of an alternate history where Henry doesn't die in 1422, and I'm happily mucking about with lists of potential monarchs, dates, and trying to figure out how I can keep Elizabeth Tudor in history and on a throne, even though she won't be the Virgin Queen. Haven't actually gotten past her yet, or properly plotted out the whole timeline with it, but it's getting there slowly. Some altered dates for a birth and a death (so far), some names that look familiar but belong to entirely different people... Still have an Edward IV, a Richard III, and a Henry VI and Henry VII... after that, I'm not sure if I want an Edward V or an Elizabeth I.

But either way, what I have so far should get me through the rest of the fifteenth century and most of the sixteenth century as well. Once I figure out the effects on politics, wars, and the cultures of England and France. And how it's going to effect the discovery and colonization of the Americas. And what's going to happen to the rest of the Valois kings of France (who will not be kings of France). Etc, etc. Still much to do. And stories to write. Probably starting with how Henry V survives his bout with dysentery.

That's all I have so far, I think. We'll see how long it takes to get stories written rather than merely having plotted timelines and such, and part of that depends on RL. Now, to go work on writing of various things (all having to do with Henry V at the moment, of course).
