Looking for a beta...
Aug. 28th, 2014 09:29 am... and I have posted to
betaplease, without any nibbles. Does anyone on my list want to beta-read a 10k Star Wars fic, or know other places to post a request for a beta-reader that are fandom-specific?
The story in question is set prior to The Phantom Menace, and my canon is the first release on the DVDs for the prequel trilogy, and a very few random bits picked out from Wookipedia, as I do not have any Star Wars books. The primary character is an original alien, and a woman of color, roughly of an age with Qui-Gon Jinn. The only canon characters to make their appearance so far are Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi, the rest of the cast are originals.
10,000+ words, in 15 ficlets spanning fifty years, to right before TPM. Rated teen for non-graphic violence, frank discussion of sex and procreation, one fade-to-black scene. Mentions of character death, grief and coping with grief, mourning customs, and familial rejection. A few scenes of fluffy cuteness with tiny!Jedi.
I am particularly looking for someone to double-check continuity despite large gaps of time left unexplored, readability, and consistency of characterization/character development. Familiarity with the movies is nice, but not absolutely necessary.
