Update, some of it about writing

Been a week without internet. Have not written much of Admit Me, Chorus to This History. Have finished my HLH story. Am mostly happy with it, though not as happy as I would be if I'd managed to get the other story done in time. Which I've also worked on, and am aware that it still has at least three plot lines, no end in sight, and I'm still not sure how the three storylines are going to tie into each other yet.

I think that's all for now, and I shall stop babbling and go do some work on a story before I have to get food into the crockpot and ready for work.

Thoughts

So, on the way home I was thinking (and this was sorta prompted by comments on a fic I was reading before work) that I want Darius-fic. And not Darius-the-priest, but Darius-the-warlord fic. Or possibly something with both, particularly with what elements of personality are persistent from one to the other, regardless of the other changes. Because some of them have to be. Some of the elements of Duncan's personality certainly were when he took the Dark Quickening. So something of what Darius was have to persist.

Which then slid into the idea that a person is the sum of their memories, and what does this mean for Immortals, who acquire new memories with each Quickening they take? Particularly, my brain is screaming, what does that mean for Methos? How much of his ability to become other people is because of lives he's lived in the past, and how much of it is Quickenings he's taken? And in those Quickenings, taken in personalities and memories that can be (or are?) incorporated into who he is.

But to return to Darius... how much of who he was as a warlord persisted, and for that matter, how old was he when he did take that Quickening and change to the point he became the priest we see in canon? And so how much memory had to be overcome with a massive Quickening in order to change who he was?

Also, brain is wanting to play matchmaker with Darius-as-warlord, and I've been telling that plot bunny it will bloody well stay off paper. Or I'm going to end up with a monstrosity that will make me not want to send it to a beta, much less post it. On the other hand, if anyone wants that plot bunny, I'll even send it with a complementary virtual hutch and alien donuts to feed it.

Anyway. *goes to see if she can find fic to satisfy the cravings* And if I can't find some, I may well write some. If I can locate my Darius-muse. Because I know I had one at some point.
