"I'd provide Jolinar another host if I had access to one. It's impolite to take an unwilling host." Maul takes a half-step away from her, and she can see he has one hand on the hilt of his weapon. The other, the one closer to her, is held loose by his side, fingers slightly crooked. As if he's holding something, ready to chuck it underhanded.
"Then take me instead." Jack smiles, sharp and vicious.
"No." Sam can feel the hesitation of the snake in her. Jolinar, Maul called her. "You're not offering because you're willing to host her, sir."
"Better me than Sam." Jack looks at her now, watching her for a long moment.
Maul flicks his hand in that moment, and everything happens at once. Jack flies back. Teal'c catches him, and stumbles at the impact. Maul grabs her hand, and pulls her back, safe behind the corner.
"I need another way to the Gate." Maul continues to retreat, and Sam does her best to keep up, at least until they've put another corridor and corner between themselves and the Gate.
