morgynleri: never do anything you wouldn't want to have to explain to the paramedics (explain paramedics)
Not as sunny today, but the sun is not absent, so that's good enough.

I got the kitchen floor swept yesterday! And all the organizing that goes with sweeping, and got my laundry done, and I ate breakfast, dinner, and dessert. I finally put away the utensils from the previous load of dishes, and pulled some of the clean dishes out of the dishwasher from this load.

No story words, but also brain will not settle on a fandom, so who knows. I'll see what I get done today, if anything.

I did get more map work done, though, so that's good. Eventually I'll get this all the way down to the very fine-grained map I want. That will also be very massive, and probably split up by continent, just to reduce the size of individual files.

Breakfast this morning is dessert leftovers, because I haven't tested how well these freeze, so the sooner eaten, the better. (I am, though, now entirely out of canned fruit.)

And five things makes a post.
morgynleri: Learn from everyone, follow no one, watch for patters, and work like hell (learn watch work)
It's sunny and lovely, and a glance at the weather forecast says it should be sunny all weekend, and this is excellent.

My cats continue to demonstrate they want to try to help their human, though Marisol has a better idea when to not attempt to climb into my lap than Sigdis. Meanwhile, Sigdis has figured out how to pet the human, which is also her soliciting pets. And she attempts to groom me when she does get to settle in my lap, which is sweet. She has also figured out that the human has less fur and thus can get cold, but has blankets to keep the cold away, so human, your blanket should be over your arm, really. (She kept pulling at the blanket until I pulled it over my arm, then rested her chin on it. It was adorable.)

I ran my dishwasher yesterday, though I did not get it emptied after. I need to do that today. I'll worry about dishes into it tomorrow. I also should do laundry today, as I am out of trousers, and laundry will take fewer spoons than finish sewing the pair of trousers that's cut out and has one inseam sewn. I would also like to get some more of the clean up done on the deck, but that's heavily dependent on my ability to stay on my feet for more than ten minutes at a time, and how chilly it is outside.

More map work, and some work on a running project, and some reading of fic yesterday. It was good. The fic is decent, though it has some issues that make me not entirely certain I'd want to rec it, and I don't know that I'll bookmark it, either. But the issues aren't enough for me to just say fuck it and close the tab.

Alarm has gone off, so I need to go sort food for me and the cats, and then I can poke at things to get done today. And five things makes a post.
morgynleri: Imagination is intelligence having fun (imagination intelligence)
Slept a bit late this morning, but didn't oversleep the feed the cats alarm. So they're fed, and I have my breakfast in front of me, my bed is made, the mini lights are plugged in, and the water pitchers are refilled.

Still need to finish getting dressed and open the curtains fully, but that can wait until AFTER food.

Making progress on the TEFT (Tolkien Elves Family Tree), and have learned possibly more than I wanted to about heraldic ordinaries and cadency markings than I want to know, but it's useful.(Thank you Scotland for having a fantastic system of cadency markings to give me an idea what the fuck I'm doing for "and now I can trace this person back up their line EASILY".)

Got more cord done while reading Of a Linear Circle yesterday. Saw a something I missed the first and second read-throughs, and am pleased with myself for that. I'm on Part VIII at the moment, and forget how far I have to go before I catch up to where things are at currently, but I figure it'll be another several days before I get there, just because I tend to leave the reading until later in the day.

I hope everyone is having a fantastic day, and has a good sleep when you get there!
morgynleri: if you want the answer to that, you best be bringing me chocolate (bringmechocolate)
Everything aches and I'm not sure I want to be awake, but I got seven and a half hours of sleep, which is a good thing, even if it doesn't necessarily feel like that much sleep.

The cats found a plastic bottle cap to play with, and the noise of it usually makes me wonder what the fuck they're playing with until I see it. At least they're playing with something that isn't gravity-testing glass jars (none of the glass jars have broken, because they're good sturdy jars and the floor isn't tile, but I still don't want them playing with jars like that).

I have another cord ready for braiding, may or may not get that done today. Am not actively planning on getting story words, and if they happen, it's bonus. More of doing the massive elven family tree today, because that's what I have spoons for.

And now I am going to go get breakfast and feed cats and try not to faceplant into my keyboard. I hope everyone has (or has had) a good day today!
morgynleri: if you want the answer to that, you best be bringing me chocolate (bringmechocolate)
Today I am again working on one of my larger ongoing projects, and decided that fuck attempting to use colors that are properly heraldic, I would like not to have a migraine because the red is eye searing and the more so when combined with the blue.

On the other hand, now that I've adjusted that, I'm getting through adding visual identifier tags to the awakened elves that I will then use - with arbitrary rules that I have in mind concerning how parts of those tags are inherited - to essentially trace down the maternal and paternal lines. Because I can. And because eventually I'm going to also do individual sets of family trees that trace a specific elf's descendents.

(Let us not actually discuss the non-elven contributions to this mess. Maiar are weird, humans get out of hand fast, and just. I will worry about them after I finish the rest of this. Especially considering one particular avari cannot keep it in his pants. Because I make rude gestures at LaCE. Elves can too have more than one spouse, the Valar just don't like it and have fits about it from time to time.)

Anyway.

My HLH story is in, and now it's waiting until the stories go live, and seeing what everyone wrote and what people think of mine and just. *bounces happily* I'm pleased with what I wrote. And looking forward to seeing what was written for me.

I am still hacking away at bracketed sections of In Familia Imperatoris, and trying to decide if I want to post it all as one story, or post it as a series. (If anyone wants to see this in progress, ping me on discord - morgynleri#9655.) I've got three more bracketed sections before the first major timeskip, of which one may just be deleted because it might actually be to a good place to do a short timeskip. The other two need more work.

As Maglor has said twice in the WIP, fuck today entirely.

Brain weasels are being loud because too much everything and not enough of things that help the brain space. Also, limited social interaction, mostly instigated by me because most of my friends have equally limited spoons for everything. (Not upset at anyone, just frustrated at circumstances.)

*takes a deep breath* I have a clean sink, and my dishes will be entirely caught up once they cool enough to put away. I can get at least some of my laundry done in my sink instead of having to take it downstairs through the heat to the washer.

I'm making progress on the massive elven family tree. I'm eyeing my backlog of sorting story things out of daily word files from four years of that, but am not yet ready to tackle it properly. And I'm making good progress on the story with a deadline.

Also playing a lot of minesweeper.

So even if fuck today entirely, I'm at least managing something.

Addendum: I think there's a thunderstorm incoming. That would definitely not help anything.

*sits and cackles over their current bit of world-building that will probably never actually show up in a story, but is useful nonetheless*

I decided I needed to know what a modern Sindarin keyboard would look like for a computer. And decided that yes, even the wireless ones would have an effing backlight, because dude, tying in low light would be much easier if my effing keyboard backlit the keys. But noooo, minimal keyboards don't NEED a backlight.

Anyway. It's a row shorter than a qwerty keyboard, there are shift keys to switch between sets - numbers are least-significant-digit on shift, the tengwar shift from open to closed (which one shifts which way is different for the top and bottom rows), the tehtar switch from a/e/i to o/u/y, the punctuation goes from more used to less used (in theory), and the long stem becomes the short stem and the doubling/nasalizing bar goes to the wiggly bar for making c/k into a qu/qw. Tab and delete are on opposite ends of the numbers, there's no caps lock button, but there is a return button. And there's a row of function keys, with an escape/eject button on the left and the power button on the right. And the extra Tengwar shift between things based on whichever row they originally occupied with the other Tengwar.

I may still tweak it some, but I think I have a workable visual for it. (now, granted, it only works for Gondorian-mode and can possibly be mapped for Quenya-mode, but Beleriand-mode is... missing some letters. Which is part of why I may tweak it further. It also doesn't have the extended-stem tengwar, but I'm not sure I give a fuck about that.)

Edit: I forgot I had two blank keys in the shifted keyboard, so I moved the tehtar for a vowel-y under the period, added the tengwar for beleriand-mode vowel-y under the comma, and shuffled the rest of the vowels so the shift-a switches from tehtar-a to tengwar-a, the e/i tehtar are on the same key, and the o/u tehtar are on the same key, and the tengwar version of the vowels were already in there as consonant tengwar. So now the fantasy keyboard works for two different modes for sindarin, and for quenya! *does a happy dance*

Avari have bagpipes they use to make weaponized music when dealing with orcs. Because bagpipes are awesome, and because I can.

(Ok, it's one particular group of Avari, but I'm attempting to build three different groups of Avari, two that tend to be closely related enough they use similar names for themselves, so I kinda need to sort out things for each of them that distinguish them from the others. Khîtikweni created chili peppers and curry, they talk to trees, and they have some of the few remaining Awakened elves among their number, and have a good relationship with the khazâd. Galdelaikweni have two groups, one which has bagpipes, horses, and keep turning orcs into corpses (Galdelaikweni aud Phoroti), the other of which trades with everyone, has reed pipes and bone pipes, uses hounds for carting things around, keeps an oral history back to when elves awakened, and collects stories about everyone else (Galdelaikweni aud Solos). I have characters populating the khîtikweni and the Galdelaikweni aud Solos, but not yet the Galdelaikweni aud Phoroti. Yet. There is going to be someone with a bagpipe showing up sooner or later.)
